Started in 1973, the Chingay Parade was started as a street parade to celebrate Lunar New Year. Since then, it has evolved into an annual iconic event that showcases Singapore’s rich and unique multi-ethnic and cosmopolitan cultures. The annual event is characterised by vibrant performers in elaborate costumes from different ethnicity, cultures and backgrounds; dazzling display of floats; huge intricate props and structures and cultural performances from all around the world.

Air Liquide Singapore was proud to be part of Chingay 2020, which took place from 31st January to 1st February New Year at the F1 Pit Building.  A total of 1,000m3 of helium balloon gas was used to inflate the Flying Dragon,  the main highlight for one of the performances. Weighing up to 90kg and measuring 108 meters long and 2 meters wide, the Dragon was built by 12 craftsmen and took two months to build. It was hailed by its makers to be the world’s largest and longest flying dragon. The performance was helmed by members of China's Xi'an Xiang Long Performing Arts, together with 25 local performers of various ethnicities from Kuo Chuan Art and Cultural (Singapore), a cultural association.
