In aquaculture, oxygen is absolutely necessary for the life of aquatic organisms. Some species are very sensitive to a lack of oxygen while others are much less so. This oxygen is naturally provided by the water in which the fish live, but the intensification of farming makes this natural source insufficient. It is therefore necessary to provide additional oxygen to the water.
